Natural Disasters - You Know, For Kids

I just finished a hearty laugh at the expense of the U.S. government. Unlike the past four years, this laugh comes from amusement rather than frustration and loathing. FEMA, the Federal Emergence Management Agency, the branch of the government made famous by The X-Files as the source of all things conspiracy, is giving itself a makeover.

FEMA has a new Kid’s Area on their website. My favorite section is the pop up map of the United States which shows you what kinds of disasters can befall each state. There’s nothing better to put your child to sleep with than visions of fires, floods, tornados, and earthquakes in the backyard.

Speaking of earthquakes, in the game section, earthquakes and volcanoes beat floods and tsunamis.

There is also a section titled “How do you rescue a horse” which is by far, the most entertaining of the entire site.

I’m quite sure that at least a penny of my tax dollars last year went to this, so I’m going to enjoy it as much as possible.
